Giving the Back a Break: Ergonomic Kneeling Posture Chair

The global ergonomic kneeling chair is a wonderful alternative to the traditional office chair of old. As more people spend their days in front of the computer, sitting in one position for hours at a time, there have been more problems with people's backs becoming sore and out of position due to these abnormal conditions. With normal office chairs that are not ergonomically designed, the back is not supported properly, the arms are not parallel to the floor when typing, and the back gets tired very quickly. The reason for this is that the back muscles have to work incessantly to keep the back in a comfortable, upright position. When they get tired and sore from maintaining that position all day long, they relax and the person ends up hunched over, which compresses the spine in some places and stretches it in others, leaving the person with a sore back from the hip area clear up to the neck.

A Comfortable Alternative

The ergonomic kneeling posture chair can be awkward to use at first since it is not a traditional sitting position. Instead, the person sits on the seat which is tilted forward slightly so that the hips are tilted forward as well. The legs are tucked under the person on a rest of their own so that the feet do not touch the floor but are instead tucked into a modified kneeling position under the person in an ergonomic kneeling posture chair. This position helps to align the spine in the correct way so that, although there is not a back on the chair, the spine and back muscles do not get tired and do not lose proper position after long hours in front of the computer. In addition, the ergonomic kneeling posture chair allows the pressure to be distributed not only on the buttocks, but also on the knees and shins which is more comfortable when sitting for long periods of time.

With the ergonomic kneeling posture chair there is still the need to adjust the height of the chair so that the arms remain parallel to the floor when typing. However, there is not the need that other chairs have to adjust the armrest height, adjust the height of the back of the chair to fit the lumbar region, adjust the tilt of the chair, or any other adjustments that a typical office chair or other types of ergonomic office chairs may require. Instead, the only training and adjusting needed in an ergonomic kneeling posture chair is to adjust the height and then get used to kneeling instead of sitting in a traditional seated position.
